Jessica Cheney is the newest member of the JCN Clinic team here in Brisbane. Jess Cheney has a Bachelor Health Science (Nutrition) and studied at Torrens University through Australasian College of Natural Therapies. Jess fits into the JCN team like a glove with her passion for therapeutic nutrition along with a deep love for cooking and food, a prerequisite for the JCN crew!
You will be seeing a lot more of Jess Cheney around the JCN Clinic, so I thought I’d take this opportunity to formally introduce the shining new smile to the JCN team.
Hi Jess! Tell us a bit about yourself and where you live.
I was born in Budapest, Hungary but grew up here in beautiful QLD. My humble abode is on the Northside of Brisbane, where I live with my partner and 2 gorgeous sausage dogs, Max & Maple.
What drew you to a career in nutrition?
A deep seated fascination of the human body, passion for food and like many in the industry, my own personal health experiences. It was just my luck that these are all connected and get to share it with the world as a nutritionist.
What does ‘healthy eating’ mean to you?
Listening to YOUR body – it’s choosing a variety of foods that contain the nutrients needed to sustain health most of the time from a place of love, that works for you. It’s a way of life that nourishes mind, body and soul.
I know you love getting in the kitchen and creating meals. What are some of your favourite creations?
I love corn fritters, hearty salads, porridge or pancakes, banana bread and there is something about putting together a pizza that I just adore.
What are three staple ingredients you can simply not live without in your pantry/kitchen?
Vegetables as a collective – is that cheating haha? This is hard but probably sardines, olive oil and sweet potato
Do you have a cooking idol? Someone who inspires you in the kitchen?
Jessica Cox – I am pretty sure I am in the running for being the first to try all her recipes after herself, I love Jess’s simplicity to cooking, embracing wholefoods and always being mindful of balanced nutrition. I also love Jamie Oliver, a huge inspiration to me again because of his simplistic approach with food, and we share the same birthday, which I think is pretty cool 🙂
What are your interests outside the jcn clinic and food?
I like to get outdoors and explore – mountain climbing, bush walks, bike riding, making memories with friends and family, music/singing/dancing and board games I love playing board games!
